About Dr. David Cordero

Dr. David Cordero is a bilingual licensed clinical psychologist in California. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Riverside, and his Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in San Francisco, California. He also completed an American Psychological Association (APA)-Accredited Pre-Doctoral Internship and Post-Doctoral Residency in Child Abuse and Trauma due to his strong interest in trauma. Wanting to understand how he could also help individuals experience positive life changes after stressful and traumatic events, he focused his doctoral dissertation on understanding the sociocultural influences in Posttraumatic Growth. 

For the past 18 years, Dr. Cordero has worked extensively with culturally diverse individuals from all walks of life. He has provided individual therapy, group therapy, and psychological assessments in community mental health clinics, trauma outpatient clinics, substance abuse outpatient clinics, forensic outpatient clinics, maximum-security state prisons, hospitals, and public schools.

Because of his unique clinical and forensic work experiences, Dr. Cordero has received formal training in assessing and treating trauma, anger management, and substance addiction. He has also been formally trained in various evidence-based practices, including Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Aggression Replacement Therapy, Seeking Safety, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). 

Dr. Cordero specializes in depression, anxiety, trauma, anger management, stress management, relational issues, self-esteem issues, codependency issues, substance and process addictions, and immigration psychological evaluations. He also provides addiction treatment in the Department of Addiction Medicine and Recovery Services at Kaiser Permanente. He is extremely  passionate about helping individuals in recovery reclaim their lives and health. 

In his spare time, Dr. Cordero enjoys strength training, attending sporting events, reading personal development books, learning new ways to optimize one’s mental and physical health, and exploring Latin America.
